About

Brought up on the edge of the Lake District, I have always loved mountains, quiet spaces and wild places. Studying in Edinburgh, and walking and climbing my way around the Scottish Highlands, I tried to capture their remote beauty in photographs which later became the focus of my sketches. The images for my first series of cards were completed in 2017 for a calendar celebrating some of my favourite memories.

Making cards for family and friends has been a great delight since my early childhood, trialling media from kids’ crayons to acrylic paints and watercolours. In recent years I have been particularly drawn to ink by its simplicity and sense of calm; and paradoxically because it allows a huge richness of detail. In 2018, I started a Folksy shop in an attempt to share my sketches, and a love of good old-fashioned greetings cards, with a wider audience.

I draw mountains as sacred and unspoilt and I strongly believe in keeping them this way. To this end all of my cards and envelopes are made from 100% recycled and recyclable paper, with no unnecessary packaging and no plastic.
